Department of Mathematics organized Intra-collegiate Topic review competition on 31st July 2019 for S.Y.B.SC/B.SC(Computer Science)/B.B.A/B.B.A(CA)/B.A students.  21 students participated.  Student are free to select a topic from a book related to mathematics. students realize the importance of subject, use of library resources and got the idea of analysis.                                     R eviews submitted by participants

A visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2019 (National Science day)  Department Of Mathematics Organized  a   visit to IUCAA on 28 th February 2019 on the occasion of  National Science day.22 students of S.Y./T.Y.B.Sc participated. They gain the knowledge about Galaxies, clusters and recent research in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Prof  Akhlak Ah. co- ordinated  the event and guided the students.            

Book review competition for the students of S.Y.B.Sc /B.Sc(C.S) was organized by the department of mathematics on 22 nd December 2018. Students were free to choose any book of mathematics as per their own choice. 13 students were participated. The competition was organized tocreate awareness to read the book among the students. Department Of Mathematics Inauguration of PC Math-Club  on 22nd December 2017 Department of Mathematics has established “ Math-Club ” in June 2017 to promote mathematical importance & amusement nurturing excellence in mathematics. Members of the club are students from F.Y/S.Y/T.Y B.Sc. (Mathematics).On the eve of national mathematics day 22 nd December 2017 department inaugurated Math-Club by Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh and Vice Principal (Science) Mr. Iqbal.N.Shaikh.They guided and encouraged club members to enhance their skills through participating actively. Students displayed beautiful wall papers enlightening the contributions of various eminent Indian Mathematicians especially of Dr. Ramanujan. About 50 member-students were present. It gives us immense pleasure to inform all the concerned that a team of  students from department of mathematics, Poona college was participated in an Inter-collegiate Quiz competition in computational mathematics held at R.K. More college on  21st December 2017 . The team captured the first position among 29 teams from various colleges of Pune. The team was awarded with first prize as cash amount and certificates. Department Of Mathematics Guest Lecture on 13th september 2017     Department of Mathematics has organized a guest lecture on 13/09/2017 for the students of F.Y/S.Y/ T.Y.B.Sc . Mathematics.  Mr.  Varun Sakharani, research fellow in Physical Chemistry, California University, U.S.A and prominent alumina of this college has delivered a lecture on “Applications of Mathematical Software tools in various field of science and engineering”. During his talk he has explained many facets of applied mathematics as stochastic process, Differential equations, Theory of Relativity, Fluid Mechanics, etc. He has also talked about several mathematical software’s like MATLAB, SciLab, Mathematica and their use in applied sciences particularly in mathematics. Department Of Mathematics Math project competition under PC Math-Club on 25th July 2017 Department of mathematics organized "Math project competition" for the students of F.Y.B.Sc on 25th July  2017. The Students were advised to prepare project like charts or modules highlighting the outstanding works of Indian mathematicians. The aim of this competition is to inculcate the research ability and interest in mathematics. Students shown their enthusiasm.Above 45 students participated in the competition. Department Of Mathematics Alumni Meet ‘ALUM- 2017-18’ on 8th July 2017 A 1 st Alumni meet was held under the title “ALUM-2017-18” on 08/07/2017 Saturday at 3:30p.m. in the Dept. of Mathematics.26 students who had passed T.Y.B.Sc. Department Of Mathematics Certification course on "Sci-lab" commence from 15th September 2017 to 15th October 2017 It's a matter of great pleasure that department of mathematics has organized a one month certification course on "Sci-lab" (a mathematical software) for S.Y/T.Y.B.Sc students. The course was commence from 15th September 2017 to 15th October 2017. 26 students enrolled in the said course. Qualified faculties conducted the theory and technical sessions. It was practical based course which enabled the students to solve the mathematical problems on sci-lab freely. They got familiar with sci-lab programming. For the convenience of the students a manual(content of Sci-lab program) was given to every student.They completed the course successfully. Qualified students were awarded with certificate. Its matter of great pleasure that the department of mathematics has organized a project competition entitled “Mathematics in day today life” for the students of F.Y.B.Sc/B.Sc(C.S) on 15/12/2018. Around 54 students actively participated. It creates a research ability and motivation towards mathematics among the students. Google Forms  is a web-based app. Students and teachers can use  it  to make surveys, quizzes, or event registration sheets. Dr. Amjad Shaikh (Dept. of Mathematics) guided about how to use Google form. Total 22 students of T.Y.B.Sc.(Maths) participated and learned how to use it.
