Department Of Mathematics Madhva Competition organized by SP college & T.I.F.R on 8th January 2018    A mathematics competition is held every year by SP college in collaboration with T.I.F.R. Department of mathematics of Poona college encourage and guide the students to participate in the said competition.The number of the students participated is given below. Shaikh Yunus of S.Y.B.Sc was awarded with a mathematics  book for extra ordinary performance in the competition in the academic year 2016-17. Department Of Mathematics Assessment using Google Forms on 1st August 2018 Department of mathematics organised a demo lecture entitled  "Assessment using Google Forms" on 1st August 2018 for colleague staff members and students of T.Y.B.Sc(mathematics). The lecture was delivered by Dr. Amjad Shaikh(Assistant Prof, Dept. of Mathematics) through LCD projector. Its a matter of great pleasure that our department is the first in Poona College to conduct and assess online test for every paper topic wise for students of  T.Y.B.Sc(mathematics). Y & M AKI’S Poona College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Camp, Pune-1. Department Of Mathematics Inter-Collegiate Quiz Competition  at IISER, Pune. Its a matter of great  pleasure that  a team of  students from department of mathematics, Poona college was participated in a Quiz competition "MIMAMSA 2018"held at IISER, Pune on 6th January 2018. Department Of Mathematics An Educational Tour to "T.I.F.R Mumbai"  on 31st January 2018 An Excursion Tour to visit TIFR (Mumbai) was organized by the department 31st Jan 2018 . The team of around 31 students of S.Y/T.Y.B.Sc (Mathematics) and three  staff members visited the place.A lecture by renowned mathematician Dr. Ravi Rao was delivered on the topic "Importance of Mathematics in various branches of science". His ideas set a great impact on every student.  They also visited to Nehru Planetarium where they simulated night sky with  various  planets , stars, phases of moon, circumpolar sky on poles and many more features and concepts of basic astronomy.  They gain beautiful knowledge and  enjoyed  the tour. overall the tour was fruitful.  It has generated interest  among   them about the wonders of science and created awareness about the  various  applications of

Department Of Mathematics A workshop on "Mat-lab Software" on 23rd January 2018 Under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Aftab Anwer Shaikh, Vice-Principal Prof. Iqbal N. Shaikh and H.O.D.s  Mrs. Khan Atiya Jawed and  Dr. Aarif Shaikh, Departments of Mathematics and Electronic Science in collaboration with “Design- Tech” organized jointly a one day workshop entitled ' 'MAT-LAB Software' ' on 23rd January 2018. Around 60 students from    F.Y/S.Y/T.Y.B.Sc/B.Sc. (Computer Science)/M.Sc.(Electronic) were participated in the workshop. The  Key-note Speaker was  Mr. Kazi Yaser Arafat (DesignTech). Students got motivated to solve the problems using Mat-lab. Department Of Mathematics Career Guidance & Guest Lecture on 24th January 2018 Department of Mathematics organised a guest lecture on "Algebra and its Application" on 24th January 2018 by Dr. Vikas Jadhav for F.Y/S.Y/T.Y.B.Sc (Mathematics) in conference hall. Around 88 students were attended the lecture.  Dr. Vikas Jadhav highlighted the applications of linear algebra to real life. The lecture was through power point which made it more attractive. It is quite knowledgeable and informative. Students enjoyed the lecture and got inspired to learn mathematics. Department Of Mathematics Inter-collegiate Quiz and Puzzle Competition on 13th January 2018 In this highly dynamic era of Science and Technology, the up-coming generations need assorted opportunities to prove their talent through healthy competitions. It brings out creative talent of Quality and enhances self-esteem of the students and make them self-generating and an ever growing segment of the total Quality Management.  In view of the same the Department of  Mathematics  organized an  Inter-collegiate Quiz competition on 13 th  Jan.2018.   12 teams each consisting of three student from F.Y./S.Y./T.Y.B.Sc. from Garware college, R.K.MoreCollege, Desai college, Wadia college etc. and 6 teams from Poona college were participated. The team from Poona college stood 1st which composed of                             (i) Swapnil Giri                              (ii) Yunus Shaikh
