Guest lecture on “ Career Opportunities in Applied Mathematics”

 The Department of Mathematics in association with IQAC  organized a “Guest Lecture” for F.Y/S.Y/T.Y.B.Sc/B.Sc(CS)/B.A (Mathematics) students on 24th December 2024 to mark the occasion of National Mathematics Day, celebrated annually on December 22nd, in honor of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. A guest lecture were on the topic “ Career Opportunities in Applied Mathematics”.

  The lecture focused on the evolving career opportunities in the field of applied mathematics, aiming to inspire students and raise awareness about the versatile applications of mathematics in various industries and academic fields.

Dr. Amjad Shaikh given a welcome address and felicitate the guest of honour.  The guest speaker was Dr. Vikas Jadhav, Associate Professor, Dept. Of Mathematics, Nowrosjee Wadia College, Pune. Around 104 students were attended the lecture. Dr. Vikas Jadhav began the session by defining applied mathematics and its significance in solving real-world problems and highlighted the applications of mathematics to data science, machine learning and many other IT fields. He elaborate more on the fields where mathematics plays an important role. He explained how applied mathematics involves the use of mathematical methods and techniques to address challenges in various fields such as engineering, computer science, economics, finance, and biology. The speaker provided a detailed overview of the diverse career paths available for students with a degree in applied mathematics.

The lecture was more attractive, quite knowledgeable and informative. Students enjoyed the lecture and got inspired to learn mathematics. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan and comparing done by Ms. Malika Mukadam. Lastly the program concludes with vote of thanks given by Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan.

A trip to Nehru Planetarium and Science Park, Mumbai-January 2016

A study Tour  to  Nehru Planetarium and Science Park, Mumbai. An Excursion Tour to visit Nehru Planetarium and Science park (Mumbai) was organized by the department on 16 January 2016 . The team of around 31 students of S.Y/T.Y.B.Sc (Mathematics) and three  staff members visited the place. The   visit inspired the students for higher studies. Intercollegiate Quiz Competition -2024

  Department of mathematics, statistics in association with IQAC  had organized Intercollegiate Quiz Competition on 14th March 2024. The Competition marked a celebration of intellectual mastery and mathematical excellence. The event brought together enthusiastic participants from various colleges, like Nowrosjee Wadia College, Fergusson College, SM Joshi College, MIT-ADT University creating an environment of healthy competition. Total 50 participants have participated in quiz competitions of which 21 participants from outside colleges. The competition kicked off with an energizing quiz, testing participants' mathematical sharpness and problem-solving skills.   The event provided a platform for students to showcase their academic talents, fostered a sense of community among participants, and promoted interdisciplinary collaboration.
