FYBSc Bridge Course (academic year 2025-26)

       The Bridge course was conducted by the Department of Mathematics from 14 /0 7 /202 5  to 1 5 /0 7 /202 5. M r s. M unz a rin A. Sajjan  was the coordinator. The main objective of the bridge course is to bridge the gap between subjects studied at School level and subjects they would be studying in Graduation. The syllabus for the course is framed in such a way that they get basic knowledge on the subjects whom they would be learning through graduation.      Bridge course provided students with better preparation for entering college-level science courses, helping them feel more confident and prepared as they start their studies. Alumni Contribution: Enabling Progress and Innovation in Mathematics

  On 2nd August 2025, the Department of Mathematics at AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce proudly received a generous financial contribution of ₹1,05,500 from distinguished alumni. The contribution was ceremoniously handed over via cheque to I/C Principal, Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, in the presence of all faculty members of department . This gesture reflects the alumni's enduring bond with the department and their shared commitment to fostering academic growth. The primary purpose of the donation is to enhance departmental resources and infrastructure.     The Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the IQAC, organized the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SkillReigns Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a leading organization in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science education and solutions. The formal signing ceremony was held in the Principal’s Office on 2nd August 2025 at 01:00 PM. The MOU establishes a collaborative partnership to offer industry-relevant training programs, certification courses, internships, and on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities in AI and Data Science. The initiative is aimed at enhancing the employability and practical skills of students, while also facilitating faculty development through professional training programs.        The Department of Mathematics in association with IQAC organized an Alumni Meet and a Career Guidance Session by Alumni  on 17 th July 2025 in the department of Statistics. The event aimed to inspire and mentor students by sharing career paths, workplace experiences, and industry expectations.      The alumni discussed a wide range of topics, including career planning, the significance of internships and networking, handling professional uncertainty, and the importance of continuous skill development. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students actively engaged with the alumni to gain clarity on career-related concerns.      The session was highly impactful and well-received by the students. Mastering Competitive Exams

     The Department of Mathematics, Poona College Academy, and IQAC organized a program on "Mastering Competitive Exams" on January 30, 2025, at the Conference Hall. Coordinated by Dr. Amjad Shaikh and Dr. Mukhtar Shaikh, the event aimed to equip senior college students with skills and strategies to excel in competitive exams. Resource persons included Colonel Vijay Kumar, Ms. Sadaf Peerbhoy, Mr. Faiz Ali Qureshi, and Mr. Sharukh Khan.      The sessions covered topics like exam patterns, time management, problem-solving, and logical reasoning. Colonel Vijay Kumar also shared insights on army exams and interviews, while Ms. Sadaf Peerbhoy and Mr. Sharukh Khan focused on effective study techniques and business mathematics. Intercollegiate Seminar Competition

       The Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully hosted an Intercollegiate Seminar Competition on 29th  January 2025, under the esteemed guidance of Principal Dr. Iqbal N. Shaikh and Vice- Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh, the event witnessed overwhelming participation from students across multiple institutions, making it a grand success. The primary objective of the competition was to enhance students’ problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and mathematical knowledge. The event saw enthusiastic participation, with 18 students competing in the seminar competition.
