An Expert talk entitled "Srinivasa Ramanujan: The Man Who Played with Numbers on occasion of National Mathematics Day 22nd December 2020
Department of Mathematics has organized an expert talk entitled "Srinivasa Ramanujan: The Man Who Played with Numbers" to commemorate the birth anniversary of Indian mathematics legend Mr. Srinivasa Ramanujan on the eve of National Mathematics Day on 22nd December 2020 at 11: 00 am.
Prof. (Mrs.) Atiya Khan (HOD) heartily
welcomed the guest speaker. She presented
a brief report of the department,
highlighting the achievements of the staff members and the students.
Dr. Amjad Shaikh, coordinator of the event,
introduced the eminent speaker Prof.
Zafar Ahsan, Research Fellow at Institute Sains Islam, USIM (Malaysia)
and Visiting Professor of Mathematics at Maulana Azad National Urdu University,
Hyderabad. Prof. Zafar Ahsan
delivered a very informative talk
starting from the birth of Mr. Srinivasa Ramanujan and highlighted his work during
his entire life span and contributions towards the field of sciences, specially
to mathematics. He guided the participants about further research and various
emerging fields where Mathematics plays a vital role.. He has explored various
facets of number theory and theory of relativity with practical applications. He motivated the participants to cultivate
the interest in using technological facilities to enhance academic future. He also informed the students about the various career
opportunities in the fields of Research. The talk was very interactive
and students participated enthusiastically.
About
50 students from FY/SY/TY BSc and 6 Faculty members of Mathematics
Department attended the lecture. They were benefitted during the sessions.
The
vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan (Faculty of Mathematics
department) and presented a small token of appreciation to our valuable guests.
Mrs.
Shaheen Khan, Co-coordinator of this event has hosted this programme.
As
per the feedback received from the participants it was very good learning
experience. The lecture helped them in understanding the scopes in the field of
applied mathematics, number theory and theory of relativity.
