Pi  Day: 14th March 2022

 



Under the able guidance of Honorable Principal, V. Principal and H. O. D., the Department celebrated “Pi-Day” on 14th March 2022 at 11:00 am. On this occasion lectures by the Alumni were organized through zoom Platform. The program was started by recitation of Quran by Mr. Ejaz (TYBSc), followed by the aims and objectives explained by Mrs. Atiya Khan (H. O. D.). The First lecture, entitled “Introduction, History and application of ‘Pi’”, was delivered by Miss. Faiza Shaikh (Alumnus-2020-21). She presented the PPTs and explained the Mathematical significance of Pi in a very marvelous manner. Second lecture on the topic “Application of Mathematics in Technology, especially in Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence” was delivered by Mr. Yunus Shaikh (Alumnus-2019-20). He explained the importance of Mathematics and appealed the students to explore their Mathematical ideas to various field of Technology. About 60 Students from F. Y. / S. Y. / T. Y. B. Sc. /B. Sc. (computer Science) were participated. They enjoyed the session and got motivated towards application of Mathematics. The program was coordinated by Mr. Akhlaque Ahmed and Mrs. Shaheen Khan with due support from Dr. Amjad and Mrs. Ismat Shaikh. It was concluded with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan.

A trip to Nehru Planetarium and Science Park, Mumbai-January 2016

A study Tour  to  Nehru Planetarium and Science Park, Mumbai. An Excursion Tour to visit Nehru Planetarium and Science park (Mumbai) was organized by the department on 16 January 2016 . The team of around 31 students of S.Y/T.Y.B.Sc (Mathematics) and three  staff members visited the place. The   visit inspired the students for higher studies. It was amazing experience for them  to learn about solar and Lunar eclipses, planets and stars.  They gain beautiful knowledge and  enjoyed  the tour. overall the tour was fruitful.  It has generated interest  among  them about the wonders of science and created awareness about the  various  applications of Mathematics in science and daily life.  A trip to Nehru Planetarium   Tour participants at Gateway of India

Intercollegiate Quiz Competition -2024

  Department of mathematics, statistics in association with IQAC  had organized Intercollegiate Quiz Competition on 14th March 2024. The Competition marked a celebration of intellectual mastery and mathematical excellence. The event brought together enthusiastic participants from various colleges, like Nowrosjee Wadia College, Fergusson College, SM Joshi College, MIT-ADT University creating an environment of healthy competition. Total 50 participants have participated in quiz competitions of which 21 participants from outside colleges. The competition kicked off with an energizing quiz, testing participants' mathematical sharpness and problem-solving skills.   The event provided a platform for students to showcase their academic talents, fostered a sense of community among participants, and promoted interdisciplinary collaboration.
