Guest Lecture on the topic “Maryam Mirzakhani: A Traiblaizing Mathematics Genius”

  Department of Mathematics , Statistics in association with IQAC had organized G uest Lecture on the topic “Maryam Mirzakhani: A Traiblaizing Mathematics Genius” at 12:30PM in conference hall on the ocaassion of   International Mathematics Day (Pi Day) on 14 th  March 2024 .  Mrs. Shaheen Khan introduced guest and our respected Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh sir  felicitated the guest Dr. Ganesh Kadu (Assistant professor, Department of Mathematics, SPPU). Dr Ganesh Kadu delivered very informative talk about Mariyam Mirzakhani and her contribution in mathematics. The lecture was attended by 66 students from various colleges, like Nowrosjee Wadia College, Fergusson College, SM Joshi College, MIT-ADT University and 7 faculty members of mathematics and statistics departments.   This event was coordinated by Dr. Amjad Shaikh. We thanks to respected Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh sir and Dr. Iqbal Shaikh sir for guidance, motivation and standing as pillars of strength.

Intercollegiate Seminar Competition

  Department of Mathematics , Statistics in association with IQAC has celebrated International Mathematics Day (Pi Day) on 14 th March 2024 . On this occasion department had organized Intercollegiate   Seminar Competition. The competition marked a celebration of intellectual mastery and mathematical excellence. The event brought together enthusiastic participants from various colleges, like  Nowrosjee Wadia College, Fergusson College, SM Joshi College, MIT-ADT University creating an environment of healthy competition. Total 13 participants have participated in seminar competition of which 8 participants from outside colleges.   The  event  provided a platform for students to showcase their academic talents, fostered a sense of community among participants, and promoted interdisciplinary collaboration.   Department of mathematics, statistics in association with IQAC has celebrated International Mathematics Day(Pi day) on 14 March 2024. On this occasion various events like Intercollegiate Mathematics Competitions, such as Quiz,  Seminar competitions and Guest lecture  were organised. The Competition marked a celebration of intellectual mastery and mathematical excellence. The event brought together enthusiastic participants from various colleges, like Nowrosjee Wadia College, Fergusson College, SM Joshi College, MIT-ADT University creating an environment of healthy competition. Total 62 participants have participated in quiz and seminar competitions of which 28 participants from outside colleges.  The competition kicked off with an energizing quiz, testing participants' mathematical sharpness and problem-solving skills. The Competition marked a celebration of intellectual mastery and mathematical excellence. The event brought together enthusiastic participants from various colleges, like Nowrosjee Wadia College, Fergusson College, SM Joshi College, MIT-ADT University creating an environment of healthy competition. Total 50 participants have participated in quiz competitions of which 21 participants from outside colleges. Group Discussion Activity

       The Department of Mathematics conducted “Group Discussion Activity” on 22nd September 2023 in Statistics Lab at 10.00am for T.Y.B.Sc students. The topic for the group discussion was “Mathematics in Technology”. The coordinator formed three groups Aryabhata, Bhaskara and Ramanujan each consisting of 5 students.        Mr. Wasim Shaikh (External Evaluator) from Dept. of Zoology and Dr. Amjad Shaikh (Internal Evaluator), Head department of Mathematics evaluated the performance. The program began with the recitation of holy Quran by Farhan Jamadar of T.Y.B.Sc. The head of department Dr. Amjad Shaikh sir motivated and guided the students about group discussion. The program coordinator Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan explained the rules of the activity.        The activity started with the first group Aryabhata, followed by Bhaskara and Ramanujan.   A visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2019 (National Science day)       Department Of Mathematics Organized  a visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2024 on the occasion of  National Science day.     13  students of  T.Y.B.Sc participated. They gained the knowledge about Galaxies, clusters and recent research in Astronomy and Astrophysics.  Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan and Ms. Namira Shaikh co-ordinated the event and guided the students.

12th Ahmed Bin Abood Memorial National Level Onli Physics-Maths Knowledge Test 2023-24

 TYBSc Mathematics students participated in  12th Ahmed Bin Abood Memorial National Level Online Physics-Maths Knowledge Test 2023-24 on 1st October, 2023 by Milliya Arts, Science and Management Science College, Beed (MS) An online MCQ test through google form was conducted from which top 10 performers were selected and they had to undergo an oral evaluation through zoom where the subject experts evaluated the candidate's performance. TYBSc students Khan Masira and Nikita Kaknale have received first and second prize. 1ST PRIZE - Rs. 3000  & MEMENTO 2ND PRIZE - Rs.2000. Moreover,  based on performance of our all participated students, our college got  Prize for "Best Performing College with Student Excellence" in the form of "EXCELLENCE TROPHY"
