One Day State Level teacher Training Workshop in LaTeX and Maxima

 The workshop was conducted at Bhaskaracharya Pratisthana, Pune on Monday 30th December 2019. It was arranged as a combined effort of Bhaskaracharya Pratisthana and Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce Pune. This workshop was initiated by Dr. Nivedita Mahajan ,Modern College (Autonomous) Shivajinagar, Pune in view of the necessity and interest of BSc(Computer Science) teachers of colleges under SPPU. 



Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh , Principal, Poona College inaugurated the workshop. He motivated the participants to cultivate the interest in using technological facilities to enhance future academically and financially. 


Dr. S. A. Katre from Bhaskaracharya Pratisthana elaborated the role and activities of the Pratisthana to the participants. Dr. Shaikh was felicitated at the hands of renowned Mathematician Dr. Kishor Marathe,University of NewYork. 


Dr. Amjad Shaikh from Poona College guided the participants as a resource person in LaTeX and Maxima. 


Dr. Amjad Shaikh helped the participants along with presentation during hands-onsessions. There were 27 participants from various colleges .they were benefitted during the sessions.

Dr. Nivedita Mahajan coordinated the workshop. Certificates of participation were given to all the participants . The workshop was of immense help to the participants.

A study Tour to  Science Park, Chinchwad, Pune. A study tour organized by the department of mathematics was held on 19th December  2013 to  Science Park,Chinchwad, Pune. The team of around 30 students of T.Y.B.Sc (Mathematics) and three   staff members visited the place.They enjoyed  simulated night sky with various  planets , stars, phases of moon, circumpolar sky on poles and many more features and concepts of basic astronomy.  They also visited various sections of the parks such as Dino park,Fun science,Climate change, energy park & amazing  3D show.They purchased many scientific toys  like mathematics puzzle, balloon  car etc for children, which can create awareness about mathematics & science. The tour has been proved Knowledgeable and beneficial to all of them.   A visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2019 (National Science day)       Department Of Mathematics Organized  a visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2024 on the occasion of  National Science day.     13  students of  T.Y.B.Sc participated. They gained the knowledge about Galaxies, clusters and recent research in Astronomy and Astrophysics.  Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan and Ms. Namira Shaikh co-ordinated the event and guided the students.

Outreach Program: Educational Trip to AKIs Urdu School, Mahabaleshwar

 On January 27, 2024, the Department of Mathematics,  in collaboration with IQAC, embarked on an enriching outreach program. As part of this initiative, 43 enthusiastic students from SYBSc, SYBSc (CS), and TYBSc mathematics, accompanied by 5 staff members, ventured to AKIs Urdu School in Mahabaleshwar. This one-day educational trip aimed to share knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts through engaging activities and spark interest and appreciation for mathematics among students at the Urdu school. The program unfolded with a variety of captivating activities, specifically tailored to ignite the students' curiosity towards mathematics. Interactive games, problem-solving challenges, and creative math projects provided a platform for active participation and a fun learning experience. The college students served as mentors and guides, readily sharing their knowledge and passion for the subject. The outreach program at AKIs Urdu School proved to be a resounding success. N
