Group Discussion Activity

 

    The Department of Mathematics conducted “Group Discussion Activity” on 22nd September 2023 in Statistics Lab at 10.00am for T.Y.B.Sc students. The topic for the group discussion was “Mathematics in Technology”. The coordinator formed three groups Aryabhata, Bhaskara and Ramanujan each consisting of 5 students. 

     Mr. Wasim Shaikh (External Evaluator) from Dept. of Zoology and Dr. Amjad Shaikh (Internal Evaluator), Head department of Mathematics evaluated the performance. The program began with the recitation of holy Quran by Farhan Jamadar of T.Y.B.Sc. The head of department Dr. Amjad Shaikh sir motivated and guided the students about group discussion. The program coordinator Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan explained the rules of the activity. 

     The activity started with the first group Aryabhata, followed by Bhaskara and Ramanujan. Every group consumed around 15 minutes for discussion. All groups performed very well resulting into fruitful outcome. Many application of mathematics in technology were discussed by the students in each group. Every group covered different application of mathematics. Also discussed about chat GPT, Artificial intelligence, machine learning etc. 

     This group discussion encouraged students to present their views and thoughts which boosted their confidence. Finally the program concluded by vote of thanks.

A study Tour to  Science Park, Chinchwad, Pune. A study tour organized by the department of mathematics was held on 19th December  2013 to  Science Park,Chinchwad, Pune. The team of around 30 students of T.Y.B.Sc (Mathematics) and three   staff members visited the place.They enjoyed  simulated night sky with various  planets , stars, phases of moon, circumpolar sky on poles and many more features and concepts of basic astronomy.  They also visited various sections of the parks such as Dino park,Fun science,Climate change, energy park & amazing  3D show.They purchased many scientific toys  like mathematics puzzle, balloon  car etc for children, which can create awareness about mathematics & science. Outreach Program: Educational Trip to AKIs Urdu School, Mahabaleshwar

 On January 27, 2024, the Department of Mathematics,  in collaboration with IQAC, embarked on an enriching outreach program. As part of this initiative, 43 enthusiastic students from SYBSc, SYBSc (CS), and TYBSc mathematics, accompanied by 5 staff members, ventured to AKIs Urdu School in Mahabaleshwar. This one-day educational trip aimed to share knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts through engaging activities and spark interest and appreciation for mathematics among students at the Urdu school. The program unfolded with a variety of captivating activities, specifically tailored to ignite the students' curiosity towards mathematics. Interactive games, problem-solving challenges, and creative math projects provided a platform for active participation and a fun learning experience. The college students served as mentors and guides, readily sharing their knowledge and passion for the subject. The outreach program at AKIs Urdu School proved to be a resounding success. N

  A visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2019 (National Science day)       Department Of Mathematics Organized  a visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2024 on the occasion of  National Science day.     13  students of  T.Y.B.Sc participated. They gained the knowledge about Galaxies, clusters and recent research in Astronomy and Astrophysics.  Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan and Ms. Namira Shaikh co-ordinated the event and guided the students.
