Guest Lecture on the topic “Maryam Mirzakhani: A Traiblaizing Mathematics Genius”

 

Department of Mathematics, Statistics in association with IQAC had organized Guest Lecture on the topic “Maryam Mirzakhani: A Traiblaizing Mathematics Genius” at 12:30PM in conference hall on the ocaassion of  International Mathematics Day (Pi Day) on 14th March 2024. Mrs. Shaheen Khan introduced guest and our respected Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh sir  felicitated the guest Dr. Ganesh Kadu (Assistant professor, Department of Mathematics, SPPU). Dr Ganesh Kadu delivered very informative talk about Mariyam Mirzakhani and her contribution in mathematics. The lecture was attended by 66 students from various colleges, like Nowrosjee Wadia College, Fergusson College, SM Joshi College, MIT-ADT University and 7 faculty members of mathematics and statistics departments.

 

This event was coordinated by Dr. Amjad Shaikh.

We thanks to respected Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh sir and Dr. Iqbal Shaikh sir for guidance, motivation and standing as pillars of strength.

A study Tour to  Science Park, Chinchwad, Pune. A study tour organized by the department of mathematics was held on 19th December  2013 to  Science Park,Chinchwad, Pune. The team of around 30 students of T.Y.B.Sc (Mathematics) and three   staff members visited the place.They enjoyed  simulated night sky with various  planets , stars, phases of moon, circumpolar sky on poles and many more features and concepts of basic astronomy.  They also visited various sections of the parks such as Dino park,Fun science,Climate change, energy park & amazing  3D show.They purchased many scientific toys  like mathematics puzzle, balloon  car etc for children, which can create awareness about mathematics & science. The tour has been proved Knowledgeable and beneficial to all of them. Outreach Program: Educational Trip to AKIs Urdu School, Mahabaleshwar

 On January 27, 2024, the Department of Mathematics,  in collaboration with IQAC, embarked on an enriching outreach program. As part of this initiative, 43 enthusiastic students from SYBSc, SYBSc (CS), and TYBSc mathematics, accompanied by 5 staff members, ventured to AKIs Urdu School in Mahabaleshwar. This one-day educational trip aimed to share knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts through engaging activities and spark interest and appreciation for mathematics among students at the Urdu school. The program unfolded with a variety of captivating activities, specifically tailored to ignite the students' curiosity towards mathematics. Interactive games, problem-solving challenges, and creative math projects provided a platform for active participation and a fun learning experience. The college students served as mentors and guides, readily sharing their knowledge and passion for the subject. The outreach program at AKIs Urdu School proved to be a resounding success. N

  A visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2019 (National Science day)       Department Of Mathematics Organized  a visit to IUCAA on 28 th  February 2024 on the occasion of  National Science day.     13  students of  T.Y.B.Sc participated. They gained the knowledge about Galaxies, clusters and recent research in Astronomy and Astrophysics.  Mrs. Munzarin Sajjan and Ms. Namira Shaikh co-ordinated the event and guided the students.
